Abstract

As population growth and energy demand is increased, there is need of smart grid system with enhanced energy efficiency. Power quality and reliability are persistent challenges in conventional power grids, driving the exploration of innovative solutions in the Internet of Things (IoT) era and Smart Grids (SGs). Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Smart Metering (SM) technologies play vital roles in grid modernization by enabling two-way communication between utilities and consumers.  Smart grid systems, enabled by IoT, offer opportunities for sustainable energy management. Integrating IoT into smart grids enhances efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security, yet security concerns persist, necessitating effective cyber threat mitigation frameworks and solutions. IoT simplifies monitoring, communication, and data processing, facilitating Smart Grid realization. However, IoT device interconnectivity introduces significant security vulnerabilities, requiring robust safeguards. This paper focuses on IoT-enabled solutions for Smart Grids with enhanced energy efficiency, emphasizing advanced technologies and addressing security challenges.
